Create a New Page/Edit a Page

Log in to admin area of website
To make a new page – From the admin homepage, click on Pages and then New Page on the left to create a new page
To edit an existing page – From the admin homepage, click on Pages and then All Pages on the left. Then hover over the page you want to edit and click Edit
You will then be presented with a blank page (or the existing page content). From here you can give the page a title and start to type the content of the page.

A ‘block’ is a paragraph of text, and hitting enter whilst typing will start a new one. If you only want a new line press shift and enter at the same time.
You have other options for what a block can be beyond just text – to access these click on the plus button on the right hand side of an empty block and select the type you want from the pop up.

Common ones to pick are tables, images, lists (i.e. bullet points) and a photo gallery.
To set a featured image at the top of the page, in the bar on the right hand side of the page, click on ‘Page’ at the top, and then scroll down to the ‘Set featured image’ box further down (or ‘Replace Image’ if one is already there).

In the pop-up that then appears, you can either use an existing image from the media library or upload a new image. Once you have selected the image, click ‘Set Featured Imaged’ in the bottom right.

Landscape pictures generally work best in this format. If you are featuring this page on the front page, you must have a featured image.

The featured image will not display whilst in editing mode, but will display on the live version.


If the page is a subcategory of another page (e.g. an event which would be under What’s On) then you need to set the parent page.

To do this, in the bar on the right hand side of the page, click on ‘Page’ at the top and then scroll down to the ‘Page Attributes’ section.

Within this there is a dropdown labelled ‘Parent Page’, which should be used to select the parent.

If the page is going to be featured on the home page, then an excerpt needs to be written, as this is the text that will be shown in the box on the homepage.

To write/update this, in the bar on the right hand side of the page, click on ‘Page’ at the top and then scroll down to the ‘Excerpt’ box.

Write the excerpt in the box. Generally this should be around 20 words.

To preview the page, click the ‘Preview’ button in the top right and then select ‘Preview in New Tab’.

To publish the page, click ‘Publish’ button in the top right and then click ‘Publish’ on the confirmation box that appears. If you are updating an already existing page, this will say ‘Update’ instead.
A published page needs adding to either the front page, the menu or the calendar to be found by anyone visiting the website. Follow these guides for instructions:
